Meet Matthew Lee Robinson

Matthew Lee Robinson is a New York City-based Australian musical theatre and contemporary commercial music (CCM) vocal coach and voice specialist, and Co-Founder of EQ Vocal Studio.

Working in person and online with artists worldwide, Matthew is known for his acute ability to hear points of resonance, and for a signature system of hand gestures he has developed to help singers physically access and unlock areas of their voice in real time. His approach combines vocal pedagogy and anatomy with kinesthetic and somatic learning, using body awareness to help singers understand and coordinate their individual instruments.

With students across Broadway, national tours, film, TV, and record labels, Matthew specializes in helping singing actors develop efficient, expressive and sustainable voices alongside a balanced, resilient mindset for the demands of musical theatre and CCM performance. He has led vocal workshops and masterclasses for Arthur Miller Foundation Fellows Program, Broadway Dreams Foundation, Voice Academy NYC, and musical theatre programs worldwide.

Beyond the studio, Matthew has performed lead roles in musicals for Opera Australia at the Sydney Opera House and appeared at Carnegie Hall, developed an original animated musical feature film for DreamWorks Animation, and written and performed songs for Nintendo, Coca-Cola Amatil, and the Australian Open Tennis Championships. As a composer/lyricist, he has written the music and lyrics for The Magic School Bus (produced by TheaterWorksUSA and currently in its seventh year touring the U.S.), his musical Happy People has recently been optioned by Broadway producers, and he has contributed songs to the internationally acclaimed TV series Dance Academy.
